Be the pebble. That’s going to be my new signature / hashtag. Be the pebble. Why?
Go out some day on a calm day with no wind. Find a pond. The surface will be flat. Toss a pebble into the pond. What happens? Small ripples that spread and keep going. Toss another. More ripples.
The reality is that it’s very, VERY, unlikely that I can change the world alone. I’ve written previously that my name is unlikely to ever be remembered like Rosa Parks is. And even she didn’t change the world, she was just a pebble that was joined by others until it grew into a wave and more. Her act that day on the bus started something that was much bigger than saying no, I won’t get up. It was a pebble.
Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.
– Barack Obama
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has. – Margaret Mead
Be the pebble.
