Trump: The Attack on Knowledge

To further the Trump/MAGA attack on knowledge (aka factual history) the Department of Defense, under the guidance of Pete Hegseth, is working to identify books and ideas to ban.  This initiative was outlined in a memo published May 9, 2025 titled “Reviewing the Department’s Military Educational Institution Library Collections“.   This is in addition to the nearly four hundred books recently removed from the U.S. Naval Academy library.   It’s worth noting that the Navy referred to it as a “list of books removed“.   The books removed include Maya Angelou’s “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” and Ibram X. Kendi’s “How to be Antiracist”.   The U.S. Naval Academy is a university.  These are adult who are there to receive an education.  Under the guise of MAGA purity the next generation of leaders of our navy is being denied the opportunity to learn.  Controlling thought was what the Nazis did.  It’s what Stalin did.  It’s what Mao did.  Apparently it’s now what we do in the United States in the MAGA / Trump world.

To further aid the MAGA censors I’m including this list of Library of Congress Subject Headings that DOD is using in their search for books and ideas to ban.  After all, I do want the to find something!  Here’s the list:

  • Affirmative Action Programs — Law and Legislation — United States
  • Affirmative Action Programs — United States
  • Affirmative Action
  • Allyship
  • Anti-Racism — United States
  • Critical Race Theory
  • Discrimination — Law and Legislation — United States
  • Diversity in the Workplace — United States
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
  • Gender Affirming Care – United States
  • Gender Dysphoria
  • Gender Expression
  • Gender Identity — United States
  • Gender Nonconformity
  • Gender Transition
  • Transgender Military Personnel — United States
  • Transgender People — United States
  • Transsexualism — United States
  • Transsexuals — United States
  • White privilege (Social structure)

Pretty scary list of subjects, don’t you think?

We are a country that was founded on many freedoms, among them is the freedom to think, the freedom to hold a diversity of ideas.  That freedom is under attack.  What will you do to fight to defend it?

The Ugliness is the Hope.

Resist. Persist. Oppose. Propose. Be the opposition with a proposition.

Be the Pebble

  1. People like Hegseth (and there are many like him in this atrocious administration) are nothing but ignorant cowards who cannot tolerate new ideas and fear that adults may judge their authoritarian regime for what it really is.
