Eighty-two years ago the first antifascists landed on several beaches in Northern France. At least 4,414 Allied troops were confirmed killed, including 2,501 Americans. I was lucky enough to know someone who landed that day on Utah Beach. And I have a great uncle who fought in the Ardennes in what we know as the Battle of the Bulge. That generation stood up to Hitler, Mussolini, Nazism, and Fascism. A few years from now the last of the people (it was mostly men then in the armed services) will die. If you have a chance? Talk to one of the few survivors. Thank them. And just as importantly, it’s up to us to honor the words NEVER AGAIN.
Never again will fail if we don’t stand up to hate and intolerance.
