The latest news is that at least 115 Palestinians were killed and more than 750 others were injured earlier this week in the stampede and gunfire related to the aid convoy arriving in Gaza. Yesterday Joe Biden announced that the US would start airdrops into Gaza of emergency humanitarian aid. NPR just reported that the airdrops have started today.
“Aid flowing to Gaza is nowhere nearly enough,” Biden said. “Now, it’s nowhere nearly enough. Innocent lives are on the line and children’s lives are on the line. We won’t stand by until we get more aid in there. We should be getting hundreds of trucks in, not just several.”
I can’t say whether Biden is doing this because he’s fed up with the treatment of the Palestinian people by Israel and the IDF or if it’s a response to the primary results in Michigan earlier this week. In the end it doesn’t matter as long as starving people are getting the help they need. Regardless, it won’t be enough. Israel needs to open border crossings so aid can flow.
Israel doesn’t care. Hamas doesn’t care. How many dead Palestinian children is too many?
Stop the killing now.
