The stories need to be told. On October 7 Yoni Saadon was attending the Nova Music Festival, a festival held in honor of peace. He was one of the survivors. Hamas killed 364 people there. He told his story of how he survived and what he saw.
He survived by covering himself with the blood of a murdered woman and then pulling her body over himself. “I will never forget her face. Every night I wake to it and apologize to her, saying, ‘I’m sorry.’ “
While he hid he watched a woman being attacked: “I saw this beautiful woman with the face of an angel and eight or 10 of the fighters beating and raping her. She was screaming, ‘Stop it already! I’m going to die anyway from what you are doing, just kill me!’ When they finished, they were laughing, and the last one shot her in the head,”
He later uncovered himself, fled to the woods and hid. He saw two Hamas gunmen attack a woman who was resisting being stripped. “They threw her to the ground, and one of the terrorists took a shovel and beheaded her. And her head rolled along the ground. I see that head, too.”
Yoni Saadon’s testimony has been reported through multiple new outlets including CNN and the New York Post. Hamas denies that the sexual assaults occurred. The truth? Forensic testing and eye witness accounts show that Hamas is once again lying.
The Hamas attack is an existential threat to the state of Israel, to the lives of Jewish people. Putin’s war in Ukraine is the same: an existential threat to Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. And here in the United States Donald Trump’s candidacy for president poses an existential threat to democracy in this country. And yes, they are all linked.
