Positive Energy

I’ve been thinking about a lot since the election.  Most of the thoughts have been ugly.  I’m worried about what’s about to start come January 20.  It certainly looks like our government is about to go to war against the poor, the disenfranchised, and especially anyone who has skin that isn’t white.  I’ll be writing more soon about my analysis of why Trump won.  I saved the following quote.  I found it in The Art of Power: My Story as America’s First Woman Speaker of the House by Nancy Pelosi.  “When I die and happily meet my Creator, He will ask me to show Him my wounds.  If I tell Him that I have no wounds, my Creator will ask: Was nothing worth fighting for?”

It’s easy to despair.  Yet please consider this: It’s not enough to resist, we must also persist.  We can’t only oppose, we need to propose.  We can’t just be the opposition, we also need to present a proposition.  In short, every time I heard Kamala Harris speak I had the same reaction: That’s the country I want to live in.  While we do need to resist the hate filled actions of Trump and MAGA we also need to remember to keep working on building the world we want to live in.
