Stupid

I get sick of stupid.  But as Forrest Gump said, “stupid is as stupid does”.  So let’s do this, make fewer entrances to schools.  And add a layer of “defense”, let’s make every kid go through a magnetometer (metal detector, if you don’t know what I mean).  So, what is the effect?  Increased targets.  A magnified attack vector.  Let me explain….

About ten years ago I was in India for work.  When I was leaving I went to the Delhi airport.  And I stood in line.  Waited.  Waited.  And waited.  More than an hour.  Why?  Because a single person in military uniform was checking IDs to make the airport safer.  But did it?

In that hour or more hundreds of us stood on a sidewalk, waiting.  Actually, massively vulnerable.  A truck could drive up, hundreds, thousands of pounds of explosives.  Like some white guy (Timothy McVeigh) did in Oklahoma.  Hundreds dead.  All to keep him out of the building.  But had they not done this?  A suitcase at best in the building.  Tens dead.  Go figure.  It still sucks, but as I’ve heard, the “security theater” “helped”.

So let’s go back to schools?  Let’s limit entrances, get kids to congregate, group the vulnerability, make them easier targets.  This is not the answer.

Fewer guns are.
