“Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” – George Santayana

Perhaps the president should spend time understanding this quote.  But Trump has made clear that he’s too “smart” to learn.

We are on the verge of the second major Constitutional crisis in my lifetime.  We got through the first, let’s hope we do here.  What Trump needs to learn, to understand, is that it wasn’t the Watergate burglary that brought down Nixon, it was the cover-up.  And the firing of Comey looks like it’s exactly that.  The hunt for Nixon went from a trickle to a downpour in October 1973 with what’s now known as “The Saturday Night Massacre“.   He went after the investigators and it backfired.  It resulted in his supporters turning on him, understanding that they needed to protect the Constitution, the Presidency, the country, not a man.
